Olivia Culpo, Shanina Shaik and More Models to Star in New E! Docuseries ‘Model Squad’

Talk about #SquadGoals! For those of us who have dreamed about what life is really like for the runway’s most famous faces, you’re going to want to set your DVR for E!’s latest series. Us can exclusively report that E! has started production on a new docuseries Model Squad, which will follow models Daniela BragaOlivia CulpoHannah FergusonPing HueNadine LeopoldCaroline LoweAshley MooreShanina Shaik and Devon Windsor as they navigate the fashion industry and life in New York City. The show, which is produced by Trooper Entertainment in association with Lionsgate TV and IMG with David Caplan, Will Staeger and Gennifer Gardiner serving as executive producers, will premiere later this year on E!, but the network will air a special preview, Model Squad: Fashion Week, to coincide with New York Fashion Week on Monday, February 12 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

“The women of Model Squad have achieved incredible success at a very young age,” E!’s executive vice president of development and production, Amy Introcaso-Davis said in a statement. “This series gives our viewers an exclusive front row seat as they watch real top models compete against and support each other through the triumphs and the challenges of the mega-pressure world of high fashion.”

The series, which will air eight one-hour episodes, will focus on what life is like behind the scenes for top models — seven of whom work with IMG — when they aren’t surrounded by the glitz and glam of the industry and the work they put in to get to where they are. After all, there is no one-size-fits-all career path.

Former Miss Universe Olivia Culpo entered a Miss Rhode Island competition on a whim when she was a student at Boston University and, well, the rest is history. In addition to modeling, she has now become a fashion and beauty influencer, working with brands like Cartier, Tod’s, Timex and L’Oreal.

Model Hannah Ferguson, meanwhile, went from the pages of the 2014 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue to the star of Chanel’s Bleu de Chanel fragrance commercial after catching the eye of designer Karl Lagerfeld.

Runway darling Devon Windsor was partying at friend’s bar-mitzvah in St. Louis when she was discovered by a local photographer. She has since walked the catwalk for Bottega Veneta, Alexander McQueen and Chanel to name a few.

E! Is Launching A New Guilty Pleasure Reality Show About Modeling

'Model Squad' is exactly what it sounds like.

From the network that brought us such "Golden Age" TV classics like Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kourtney and Khloe Take Miami and Life of Kylie comes a new reality drama from Lionsgate about pretty people with contrived drama and an inclination toward upspeak: Model Squad.

Exactly what it sounds like (though, if we're being honest, "squad" is, like, so Taylor Swift circa 2016), the show follows a handful of models you've probably heard of but definitely don't remember, including Shanina Shaik (who is not Irina Shayk, Bradley Cooper's bae), Victoria's Secret Angel Devon Windsor and Miss Universe 2012 slash Nick Jonas' ex-girlfriend, Olivia Culpo.

Each hourlong episode will chronicle the "hard work, dedication and perseverance" that the ladies put forth in order to achieve their various successes — from Givenchy campaigns to Sports Illustrated covers — in addition to providing viewers with an insider's glimpse into the high-stress nature of their jobs.

“The business of high fashion is competitive and cutthroat, but it provides unparalleled opportunities that so many dream of,” said Amy Introcaso-Davis, executive vp development and production at E!, in a release. “With the network deeply rooted in both fashion and pop culture, Model Squad is tailor-made for our viewers as this series brings exclusive access inside this unique celebrity lifestyle while also showing how these fierce women empower each other in such a high-pressure industry.”

The show, which is produced by Trooper Entertainment in association with Lionsgate and IMG, with David Caplan, Will Staeger and Gennifer Gardiner serving as executive producers, will kick off with a New York Fashion Week preview special on Monday, Feb. 12. ‘Model Squad’ Docuseries Set At E!

A new docuseries is about to take the runway at E! The entertainment channel has greenlit Model Squad which will follow today’s most high-profile and in-demand supermodels in the fashion industry. A preview special titled Model Squad: Fashion Week will air at 10 PM ET/PT on February 12 with the series set to launch later this year.

The new one-hour, eight-episode docuseries from Lionsgate will follow Daniela Braga, Olivia Culpo, Hannah Ferguson, Ping Hue, Nadine Leopold, Caroline Lowe, Ashley Moore, Shanina Shaik, and Devon Windsor. These women are at the top of their model game, having graced the pages of Vogue and Sports Illustrated. You may also recognize their faces from Balmain and Givenchy campaign ads as well as the uber-popular Victoria’s Secret fashion show. The new series offers an authentic look as they learn to live, love and conquer the Big Apple, and captures the emotional highs and lows of navigating their complicated world.

Daniela Braga
Discovered in her native São Paolo, Brazil, Daniela received her big break in the Givenchy campaign in 2012, shot by photography duo Mert & Marcus. In 2013, Daniela caught the attention of Victoria’s Secret and has walked in their annual fashion show ever since. Daniela is a frequent collaborator with the iconic French fashion house, Balmain and has become the muse to their creative director, Olivier Rousteing. Additionally, Daniela has become a favorite of fashion legend Carine Roitfield and is often featured in CR Fashion Book. Daniela has appeared on covers of V Magazine and Harper’s Bazaar and featured in several notable publications including British Vogue, ELLE, Glamour and L’Officiel.

Olivia Culpo
As a student at Boston University, Olivia entered the Miss Rhode Island competition on a whim, went on to win and also took the crown in Miss USA and Miss Universe in 2012, making her the first US contestant to win Miss Universe in 15 years. Since then, Olivia has worked with several top fashion brands including Cartier, Tod’s, Timex and L’Oreal and has graced the covers of magazines including Hello! Fashion UK, Galore and Seventeen Latin America, amongst others. Olivia has built a strong social following on Instagram of 2.1 million followers by focusing her social content on her own passions for fashion, beauty and wellness.

Hannah Ferguson
The San Angelo, Texas native received her big break courtesy of the 2014 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Not long after, Hannah caught the attention of Karl Lagerfeld and went on to star in Chanel’s “Bleu de Chanel” fragrance commercial in 2015. Since then, the blonde beauty has appeared in editorials for Harper’s Bazaar, Carine Roitfeld’s CR Fashion Book and LOVE Magazine, including a feature spot in the publication’s advent calendar directed by Hype Williams. Most recently, Hannah fronted a Mario Testino-lensed editorial for the September 2017 issue of V Magazine emphasizing female strength and empowerment.

Ping Hue
Chinese-American model Ping Hue was born and raised on Manhattan’s Bowery Street. She landed her first editorial feature in Vogue China alongside Asian supermodels Liu, Tao, Danni Li and Du Juan, photographed by Dan Jackson. Always an overachiever, Ping balanced her budding modeling career with a college education; she initially studied nursing and chemical engineering, and graduated with a degree in finance. In addition to portfolio spreads in Teen Vogue, Elle, Marie Claire, and 10 Magazine, Ping has walked in shows for Yohji Yamamoto, Polo Ralph Lauren, Naeem Khan, Vivienne Tam, Marchesa, Zimmerman and Ports 1961, during the international collections season.

Nadine Leopold
Austrian bombshell Nadine Leopold has graced the covers of numerous international editions of Glamour as well as Harper’s Bazaar Serbia, Grey Magazine and The Daily Summer. She’s also appeared in editorials for Marie Claire UK, Self and Elle Bulgaria. Most recently, she was photographed for two editorial spreads in Carine Roitfeld’s eponymous publication, CR Fashion Book. Nadine has sat for celebrated photographer Gilles Bensimon and starred in Botkier’s 2015 fall campaign. She newly made her runway debut courtesy of Phillip Plein’s resort 2018 show and walked in the subsequent spring/summer 2018 show. After appearing in commercial spots for Victoria’s Secret, Nadine walked in the lionized 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in Shanghai.

Caroline Lowe
Caroline Lowe, known for her all-American, girl-next-door glow, has starred in advertisements for Tommy Hilfiger, American Eagle and Aeropostle as well as Pantene and Soma Intimates. The budding actress has appeared in a number of on-screen projects, best known for her roles in How to Be Single and War Dogs. Additionally, Caroline co-starred in Funny or Die’s  Swimsuit Issue: Climate Change Edition alongside Hannah Ferguson and Erin Heatherton. Currently based in New York City, she can regularly be found snapping photos for her widely known Instagram account, for which she received a shout-out from GQ.com.

Ashley Moore
Ashley Moore hails from Oceanside, California but lived all across the country growing up because both of her parents were in the military. Before going to college, Ashley begged her mom to go to Los Angeles for two weeks to try and make it as a model. She went to various open calls and got turned away due to her height. However, she landed at Nous Model Agency, where she was eventually signed. Since then, Ashley has graced the cover of ARCADIA magazine and did editorial shoots for GQ, Seventeen, Cosmopolitan and Nylon, amongst others. She has also walked in an Alice & Olivia fashion show as well as shot various films, television series and commercials including Ross, Verizon and Lexus.

Shanina Shaik
Melbourne, Australia native Shanina Shaik began her modeling career at age eight and received her big break in 2013, courtesy of the Victoria Secret’s Fashion Show. In addition to the aforementioned, select runway appearances include Chanel, Tom Ford and Stella McCartney, amongst others. Additionally, David Sims photographed her for a series of Sephora cosmetics promotions, and she has also appeared in advertisements for Smashbox and L’Oreal. Shaik has graced the covers of Harper’s Bazaar Singapore, Lurve and Sunday Life Australia magazines, and has appeared in editorial features for the international editions of Vogue, W and Interview.

Devon Windsor
St. Louis, Missouri native Devon Windsor was discovered by a local photographer at a bar-mitzvah party. She received her big break during the spring 2014 season upon appearing in over twenty international collections, including Prada and Christian Dior. She has also walked the runway for Bottega Veneta, Alexander McQueen and Chanel. Widely admired for her athletic physique, Windsor has fronted campaigns for Jean Paul Gaultier, Max Mara Studio, Leonard and Love Moschino. Select magazine covers include Vogue Turkey, 10, Oyster and Net a Porter’s The Edit. Craig McDean captured her for an editorial feature in Interview magazine, and she has also appeared in Vogue Germany, W, Teen Vogue, Pop and CR Fashion Book.

 THE HIGHS AND LOWS OF MODELING:E! has greenlit a new one-hour, eight-episode docuseries called “Model Squad,” which follows several high-profile models within the fashion industry.

They include Daniela Braga, Olivia Culpo, Hannah Ferguson, Ping Hue, Nadine Leopold, Caroline Lowe, Ashley Moore, Shanina Shaik and Devon Windsor. The models, except for Braga and Culpo, are represented by IMG Models. Braga is represented by Next Model Management and Culpo is represented by Creative Artists Agency.

The models have appeared in such magazines as Sports Illustrated, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle and Vogue, walked in the Victoria’s Secret fashion show and landed campaigns for houses including Balmain, L’Oréal, Chanel, Tod’s and Givenchy.

The series is produced by Trooper Entertainment in association with Lionsgate TV and executive produced by IMG, with David Caplan, Will Staeger and Gennifer Gardiner serving as executive producers. The idea behind the series is to get an authentic view of the highs and lows of navigating the modeling world. A Fashion Week Reality Series is Airing on E!

Can't social climb, swindle, or sleep your way into getting an invite to NYFW events this year? Can't say the same for us, because we're Guest of a Guest, after all. But that doesn't mean you can't get a behind-the-scenes look!

Your latest guilty pleasure on E!, Model Squad, is a new reality show starring the It Girls of the fashion world. Namely Dev Windsor, Olivia Culpo, Hannah Ferguson, and yours truly.

Yes. I'm seriously starring on Model Squad. I know, I know. I was made for reality television because I'm human garbage. So I will be an incredible foil to the pristine, otherworldly Olivia Culpo in the episode they filmed at the Stuart Weitzman party at 1 Hotel in Brooklyn. I was the Corinne Olympios to her Kristina Schulman, the Alexis Neiers to her Gabby Neiers, the James Kennedy to her...wait, I don't think there's a single person on Pump Rules that isn't subhuman scum or the devil incarnate. Actually, I think James Kennedy is the most innocent one this season...? Oh well! Moving on!

Anyway here are some spoilers:

1.  Olivia Culpo is definitely lying about her height. She's not 5'7. But she's so beautiful and kind that we'll let it go.

2. It took SO MUCH SELF CONTROL not to say to her, "Hey I call your boyfriend 'Daddy Amen-do-me,' got any dick deets?" I say this as someone with so little self control that she actually asked Corinne about her Juicy J music video during an interview.

3. If I'm interpreting Dev Windsor's words in the way she intended...she's full of shit. Supermodels are not the top of the top. Literally everyone is a model these days. You can just buy fake followers and take pictures of avocado toast and high schoolers in Idaho will idolize you.

4. I hate how fat I look on screen, even though I haven't even seen my episode yet. Starting my Fit Tea and crystal meth cleanse already.

Monique Greenwood risked it all, and pursued her lifelong dream of opening her own bed & breakfast, to establish a legacy for her daughter, Glynn (pictured). Will she take over the family business?

 

Shortly after appearing on WURD 900AM‘s The MOJO, hosted by Stephanie Renée, Monique Greenwood provided more details on an announcement that had been brewing for a couple of months.

 

“O...how sweet it is!,” read a post on the Facebook page of Akwaaba Bed & Breakfast Inns. “We were thrilled to share the news with you that Akwaaba Bed & Breakfast Inns had been signed for a reality show by a major television network. Now we can drop more details...It’s OWN!!”

 

In 2001, the Howard University alumna quit her job as editor-in-chief of Essence Magazine, risking it all to pursue a lifelong dream of opening her own bed & breakfast to establish a legacy for her daughter, Glynn.

 

“Oprah Winfrey has greenlit us for a prime-time, unscripted series as part of Oprah Winfrey Network’s (OWN) exciting Saturday night lineup!,” Greenwood, a lodging entrepreneur, continued in the post.

 

“We’re deep into production now with the incredibly talented and dedicated team from Lionsgate’s [and] Trooper Entertainment. We hope to see you live and in-person at an Akwaaba inn soon, and we certainly look forward to visiting you on your TV screen this August!”

 

Things may not always go smoothly, but Greenwood and her colorful staff – including Richmond, Virginia resident and Director of Operations and Marketing, Melody Joy Short– work hard to make sure their guests have an experience they’ll never forget.

 

Checked Inn” is executive produced by Dave Caplan (“Monica the Medium,” “Holy Foley”) and Rahel Tennione (“The Real Housewives of D.C,” “Welcome to Sweetie Pie’s”) from Trooper Entertainment, in association with Lionsgate Television.

 

With more than 20 years in the hospitality industry, the Washington, D.C. native operates one of the most successful, upscale lodging collection on America’s east coast. Serving as president and CEO of the inns, the editor and author – along with her husband, Glenn Pogue – own five locations in Brooklyn, New York; Cape May, New Jersey; Washington, D.C.; and Bethany, Pennsylvania. Set at The Mansion at Noble Lane in Poconos, Pennsylvania, the former Woolworth estate welcomes couples who seek to save their marriages, re-ignite passion and celebrate life’s most exciting events. Located on 22 lush acres in the Lake Region of Northeast Pennsylvania’s Mountains, the 25,000-square-foot Gilded Age mansion features 14 guest rooms, a seven-room spa and a private tea.

 

A separate 10,000-square-foot recreation space includes a state-of-the-art gym; tennis, volleyball and basketball courts; and an Olympic-sized heated swimming pool. The resort features bed and breakfast stays, as well as special “Health and Wellness Weeks” to serve those on the path to optimum health and well-being.

Akwaaba’s Mansion at Noble Lane, the company’s most recent addition to the collection of inns, is a 22-acre estate that was built by 20th-century Gilded Age millionaires.

 

“My grandmother lived to be 102 and the last thing she said to me was ‘I remember when I could not sit at the counter at Woolworth. Now my baby girl is all up in their mansion,’ Greenwood gleefully recalled. Inspired by being “raised in a 3-bedroom house with 10 people,” Greenwood runs her empire with heart and soul.

 

“I’m excited to take the journey to be my best me with my guests,” said the best-selling author of Having What Matters and co-founder of the Go On Girl! Book Club, America’s largest African American book club. Author LaJoyce Brookshire, Dee Marshall’s annual YOUtopia, SMART START Women’s Retreat organized by Dolphin Enterprises, Community Baptist Church Marriage Enrichment Retreat, and MOBB United for Social Change are previous guests and events hosted by Akwaaba. Recording of the docu-series, featuring compelling stories of such organizations and individuals, concludes before the end of this month.

Deadline.com: OWN Sets Docuseries ‘Released’ & ‘Checking Inn’ For Saturday Nights This Fall

OWN said today that it has ordered a pair of docuseries to join its Saturday night lineup in the fall: Released, which follows formerly incarcerated men and women as they walk out of the prison doors for the first time to restart their lives, and Checking Inn (wt), about former Essence magazine editor-in-chief Monique Greenwood pursuing her lifelong dream of running a bed and breakfast.

“OWN’s Saturday night lineup features entertaining and thought-provoking docuseries focused around conversations our audience is having in their everyday lives,” said network president Erik Logan. “We think both of these shows will connect with our viewers and we’re pleased to be able to continue to serve up great new content.”

Produced by Lucky 8 TV (60 Days In), Released presents autobiographical portraits of former inmates as they attempt to reconnect with their loved ones, establish their independence and begin the long, hard work of resurrecting their abandoned lives. The executive producers are Oprah Winfrey, Greg Henry, Kim Woodard Jarrett Lambo and Keayr Braxton, with author and advocate Shaka Senghor as consulting producer.

Checking Inn, from Trooper Entertainment in association with Lionsgate Television, follows Greenwood — who quit her Essence gig in 2001 — as she runs Akwaaba Bed & Breakfast Inns, the most successful B&B business on the East Coast. The series is executive produced by Dave Caplan.
